Feedback on the Infobip Shift 2025 conference, the largest event dedicated to developers in South-East Europe
Recent advances in 5G have highlighted a major change for developers: the ability to directly integrate the 5G network into their code, opening up new opportunities to innovate more quickly and efficiently. No more complications when integrating the network! 5G innovation is no longer reserved for operators; it also concerns developers. This message was clearly conveyed by Infobip Shift last September, at a round table discussion entitled “Unleash the power of 5G in your code: transform your applications”. (1)
Why 5G represents a major opportunity

The global 5G market is estimated to be worth around $300 billion, offering enormous potential for businesses and developers. Thanks to these new interfaces, they can create innovative services in a variety of sectors: security, mobility, health, the public sector, and much more. For example, real-time identity verification, remote vehicle management, and infrastructure monitoring are now possible thanks to these APIs.
Standardised APIs for global adoption
The open-source CAMARA project, supported by the Linux Foundation, offers standardised, open, simple and uniform APIs, allowing any developer to easily access 5G network features. These APIs are supported by a global community of more than 70 operators and nearly 300 networks, representing nearly 80% of the global mobile phone market, ensuring international compatibility and consistency.
Concrete use cases for Network APIs
1. Security and fraud prevention:
Instant identity verification when opening an account or changing SIM cards.
2. Infrastructure and mobility:
Real-time road monitoring or remote vehicle fleet management, as in tests where a car in Finland responded to commands sent from Barcelona.

Protecting children in schools or securing public spaces through better data and identity management.
4. Business and insurance:
Accelerated processing of claims, verification of digital documents, and real-time risk assessments.

Testing Network APIs with Orange
Discussions at the Infobip Shift conference confirmed that the ability to directly integrate the 5G network into application code is a key step for the future. By making this power accessible, developers can create faster, more secure and more innovative applications, while opening up new economic opportunities.
At Orange 5G Lab, we believe that this technological revolution is a unique opportunity to build the digital future, where innovation is within everyone’s reach.
